A very interesting hybrid issue

L. Papius, 79 BC. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 3.67 g, 5 h), Rome. Head of Juno Sospita to right, wearing goat-skin headdress; behind, S•C. Rev. L•PAPI Griffin leaping to right; below, bucket. Cf. Babelon (Procilia) 2, Crawford 379/2, RBW 1407 and Sydenham 772 (for obverse). Cf. Babelon (Papia) 1, Crawford 384/1, RBW 1412 var. (differing control) and Sydenham 773 (for reverse). An apparently unique hybrid issue combining an obverse of L. Procilius with a reverse of L. Papius. Light scratches, otherwise, very fine.
